7/30/2019 - OKC, OK — (by Brian Bates) You Heard It Here First! The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals announced early this morning that they will be publishing their long awaited opinion on the Daniel Holtzclaw Case, this Thursday (8/1/2019).
Daniel Holtzclaw’s current criminal defense lawyer, James Lockard, filed a formal appeal almost 2.5 years ago.
Holtzclaw was accused of using his position as an Oklahoma City police patrol officer to prey upon vulnerable black females in the Springlake District.
Holtzclaw was convicted of 18 of 36 criminal charges and stemming from 8 of 13 accusers.
Holtzclaw was subsequently sentenced to 263 years in prison.
Atty. Lockard appealed Holtzclaw’s conviction on the following grounds;
Insufficient Evidence
Joinder (combining all 13 accusers into one case was prejudicial)
‘Circus Atmosphere’
‘Overzealous Prosecutors’
Ineffective Counsel
Unconstitutionally Excessive Sentence
Due Process Right Violated
